CIDE Performs At Studio Theatreon 9 March 2011

For Immediate release
Carmel, Indiana – March 9, 2011

Friday evening, members of Central Indiana Dance Ensemble delighted a packed house at Carmel’s new Studio Theatre with a mixed bill of classical and contemporary repertoire. As one of seven resident companies housed at the Center for the Performing Arts, CIDE was honored to be the first dance company to perform in the newly opened facility. Earlier in the week, Artistic Director, Suzann DeLay joined city leaders at the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the Studio Theatre.

The evening performance included members of the CIDE Senor Company, Apprentice Company and special guest appearances by two founding members of the Carmel based pre-professional ballet company. Ashley Jones, a graduate of Indiana University’s Contemporary Dance program and current Director of CIDE’s Youth Company reprised her role in an audience favorite, #4 St. James Place. Courtney Cole also an IU grad, danced professionally with the Nashville Ballet and is currently on staff with the Central Indiana Academy of Dance, stepped in to fill a lead role in a marquee piece for a dancer unable to perform. The company performed classical selections from Coppélia, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker as well as contemporary works by Lisa de Ribère and Joe Istre. CIDE plans to use the flexible “black box” space at The Studio Theatre for showcase performances. The company will stage some of its larger productions in the 500 seat proscenium theater, The Tarkington, when it opens in August 2011.

The Carmel based ballet company is currently in rehearsal for its spring ballet, Cinderella. For more information and tickets visit www.cidedance.org.
